Welcome to The Stuart MS Raptor Band

Excellence in Music

The Stuart MS Raptor Band is a renowned middle school band based in Commerce City, CO. With a focus on solid fundamentals, beginning and young band students learn how to work together to create something bigger than they can create on their own.

Our End of Year Concert is at Stuart Middle School on Thursday, May 9 @ 6:30pm

8th + 7th Grade warmup @ 5:45; 6th Grade warmup @ 6:10pm

We’re hosting the “Night on the Town Dance” on Friday May 10th from 6pm-8pm, and it’s the first time we’ve had an all-school dance in years so it’s sure to be a bash!! We need many volunteers to help with decoration donations and setup, concessions, chaperoning and cleanup.   If you helped with our last dance, or signed up to help with this one at our last concert, you’ll receive an email this weekend from  If not, send her or myself an email and we’ll add you to the list!  Entry for students will be $10 and they must not have had ISS/OSS, and fewer than 5 tardies between 4/19 - 5/8  to qualify for entry.  Concessions will be sold.  Proceeds go to purchase a new tuba case, specialized instruction on instruments next year, instrument maintenance, and sheet music.

Canon City Music and Blossom Festival 2024:  Friday, May 3

Our annual 8th Grade Band field trip to the Canon City Music and Blossom Festival expanded to include the Jazz Band last year where they earned Excellent ratings! This year we want to bring our amazing 7th grade band along as well! But there’s a catch… we only have 56 seats on the bus, and there’s 63 students that need to attend.  To solve this, the 7th grade students are preparing to audition for a seat.  Please encourage them to practice a lot this weekend so they can be prepared - the quiz/audition is this coming Tuesday.  Any parent/guardian interested in chaperoning is MORE THAN welcome - we need you!! If you care-for-band, join the care-a-van!  Please email and let me know if you can help!! Permission slips will go out next week.  Here’s the current itinerary:

About Mr. Roach

I started teaching band because my dad was a band director and an inspiration.  I graduated from East Central University of Oklahoma in December of 2003 and began teaching in Clute, Texas.  In 2007, I made my way to the mountains by moving to the Denver area and have been here ever since!

Teaching at Stuart is an absolute blast!  The students here are incredibly encouraging and positive, which creates a perfect environment to experiment with sound and music while building great relationships.
