Our Beginner Bands (6th and 7th Grades, meets during school every day) will perform in every quarterly band concert, as well as for students at Reunion, Second Creek, and Southlawn Elementary Schools in the spring semester on a field trip.

The Symphonic Band (8th Grade Band, meets during school every day) will perform at our quarterly concerts, take a field trip around Commerce City for a day of performing Holiday Music at various venues, and at the Canon City Music and Blossom Festival in May with potential for other performances and band festivals.

The Pep Band (optional after-school Thursday club) is a low-stress, high-fun after-school performance group for any and all band members with at least one semester of band experience to come together to rehearse and perform at school sporting events and rallies.  Last year we performed at a boys football game and a girls basketball game; this year we’re prioritizing soccer and volleyball and would love to play for even more home games!  We rehearse from 4:32pm until 5:20pm.

The Jazz Band (optional after-school Wednesday club to begin in the 2nd quarter) is an after-school performance group for intermediate/advanced band members to rehearse and perform jazz music.  They will perform at some quarterly concerts, take a field trip around Commerce City for a day of performing Holiday Music at various venues, and provide entertainment in the afternoon for the Solo/Ensemble Festival, with potential for other fun additional activities and performances.

Individuals are encouraged to prepare a solo and/or small ensemble piece for our Solo/Ensemble Festival on Saturday, April 29th.  Stuart is hosting this event and we’ll need volunteers of all kinds to make it a big success for our musicians and others in the district, as well!  Resources will be provided to the students to help guide them.

*Concert attendance is mandatory for all Stuart band students.  Documented illness (with medical note and school absence that day) and bereavement are excusable absences to be made up by performing concert pieces upon return.

Other performance opportunities may come up during the year and will be included with advanced notice. These may include performances in the area during the school day, honor bands, Large Ensemble Festivals or Contests, and Solo and Small Ensemble Festivals. A list of performance dates and times will be updated on the Stuart Band Website.  Other performance opportunities may arise during the school year and will be considered with adequate notice.
