Weekend Update Sept 13, 2019
Hello Parents and Families,
Another fun week of music comes to close this afternoon and I'm so excited for what this year holds for your students. I sent out specific messages this week for students that were missing book money, polo shirt orders and handbook signatures, but there are some updates about these below as well.
Polo shirt orders were due today, however because of the outdoor ed trip, I will take orders on Tuesday as well. Return the attached order form with $25 cash or check on Tuesday so I can get the order placed and receive the shirts before the first performance in October. Shirts should arrive around the first week of October, I'll keep everyone updated when they arrive.
All students should have their instruments and books at this time. If your child doesn't have a book please send them with $10 on Tuesday so they can have the supplies they need to be successful.
8th grade has the PVHS pep band performance tonight at the football game. Pizza dinner from 5-6pm, music rehearsal at 6pm, game at 7:30pm, we should be done around 8:30pm. They sounded so good in class today, tonight is going to be a lot of fun. Next week we make the shift to concert band music for our October concert. Next week we will start working with SmartMusic for practice.
7th grade intermediate band is doing great with their review of last years work, I'll be getting their music for the October concert out next week as well. Next week we will start working with SmartMusic for practice.
7th grade beginning band is doing great with their first five notes and playing together as a group on the first pages of the book. We are really focused on having proper posture, hand position and making good sounds. Next week we will start working with SmartMusic for practice.
6th grade beginners made their first sounds together as a whole band on Tuesday and Wednesday before going to outdoor ed this week. We will continue to work on note reading, basic sounds and playing together next week. Students should be practicing the first five notes in their books.
Extra copies of the handbook, concert dates and all other resources can be found on my website.
